Over the last 2 years, Ashley and I have been opening up The Hop(s) to a variety of performance acts, from jugglers to magicians to musicians and everything in between. Also, in an attempt for some of the area's non-profits to get their deserving messages to a broader audience, we hold a variety of fundraisers in the stores. This effort has shown to be such a wonderful way for families to experience the many talents of Asheville as well as support this brilliant and buzzing community!
And here is what we have planned for the months of May and June (all of which is FREE to everyone :) )... *Click For Larger Image*
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at all regarding our events or the performers/non-profits. Much Love! Greg and Ashley Garrison Owners The Hop Ice Cream Cafe hopicecreamcafe@yahoo.com 640 Merrimon Ave 828 254 2224 AND The Hop West 721 Haywood Rd 828 252 5155
Team Hop Ice Cream, including Drew, Jon, Jason, and myself will be strutting through the streets of downtown Asheville tomorrow morning for Walk A Mile in Her Shoes, an awesome benefit for Our Voice and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We will proudly be earning these blisters if they can in any way end Sexual Assault.
This Sunday, we are super excited to be downtown Asheville at the Big Love Fest with many other great local businesses! Also we’ll be debuting our new Buchi Fire Sorbet at the event!!!
Tuesday, May 3rd, 6:30-7:30pm: Jonathan Scales Fourchestra Show! Today we will be donating 20% of the sales from BOTH LOCATIONS to The Spectrum (a unique recreation program for kids with autism)! Ice Cream for a good cause!
The Spectrum is a non-profit that supports local kids with autism (www.autismsocialgroups.org). They are having a casual ice cream social get-together at the Merrimon Avenue location from 5-7pm on the 27th. Stop by and meet them if you'd like! If you can't make it from 5-7--no problem! Eat ice cream all day long and support their cool program!
This Thursday, April 14th, from 7-8:30pm, two of Asheville's iconic figures will be performing a Free family-friendly show at The Hop! For a brief glimpse of the awesomeness this event entails, here are two videos of said performers doing what they do best :).
Dearest Asheville, Here's what we have brewing in the event department this week!
Tuesday April 5th 5-8pm: HATCH(lings) Fundraiser. What is Asheville? is a week of play and experimentation in the streets of Asheville using Cell phones, GPS, text messaging and mission-driven exploration. Middle schoolers form various neighborhoods of Asheville will turn their city into a Living Gameboard. Our youth's findings will be compiled into an interactive collective journal that dynamically organizes and reorganizes the collected information through compositions of words, sound and imagery leading to visions, a celebration and ACTION! To help fund this brilliant plan, we will be donating 50% of sales during the event to HATCH Asheville! All the details here :)
Sat 7-8:30pm and Sun 2-3:30pm at Odyssey Community School: The Runaway Circus! We had the privilege of scooping at this event last Saturday, and it was absolutely brilliant family fun! Juggling, magic, vaudeville and all out hilarity abound. We'll be back this Saturday and Sunday to provide some scoops and enjoy the wonderful whimsy The Runaway Circus brings. All details here.
