The Hop Presents, February Edition!

Hello, hello,
Greg here, playfully reporting to you during what can be deemed as a mini Spring in Winter. This past weekend saw a rebirth of youthful vitamin D induced energy among folks in Asheville. Didn't it seem like the whole city was wearing a huge smile? And now with our cells recharged with the bliss of warm, sunny days we, at The Hop(s), look forward...

Here's what The Hop and The Hop West have in store, in the form of Free Family-Friendly entertainment, for the month of February:

Tuesday 2/1 6-7pm: Forty Fingers and a Missing Tooth Jugglers.
One of Asheville's best performance acts, Forty Fingers and a Missing Tooth, will be juggling all sorts of things for your entertainment, some of which are even death-defying and may or may not include a Chihuahua! Here's a video of one of their previous shows at The Hop.

Friday 2/4 6:30-7:30pm at The Hop West: Barbie Angell Poetry Show.
It has been said that if Shel Silverstein and Dorothy Parker conceived a child, the result would have been Barbie Dockstader Angell. Razor wit, a notorious pink skirt and simple rhyming verse combine to create an innovative style. She is fantastic! Plus there will be Free coloring books for those in attendance!

Tuesday 2/8 6-7pm: Juan Holladay and Eliza Sidney -Harp, Guitar and Voice.
Juan Holladay, of The Secret B-Sides, and Eliza Sidney met at Warren Wilson College as students and have since found a niche that is angelic, melodic and infectious. All we need to say is Harp, Guitar and Voice!

Tuesday 2/15 6-7pm: Kids Poetry SLAM!
Present original poetry in front of an audience of friends and family! $50 cash prize for the best presentation and Free Hop t-shirt for runner-up! Hosted by Chris Martin of Curtain Call Collective.

Friday 2/18 6:30-7:30pm at The Hop West: Gavin Connor Singer/Songwriter.
Join us on the West side for this solo performance by Gavin Connor (good friend and member of the If You Wannas). Original songs and some fun covers, which children and adults both will enjoy!

Wednesday 2/23 5-8pm: Arts For Life Art Opening.
Arts For Life enriches patients’ lives, nurtures their minds and spirits, and encourages positive healthcare experiences for children and their families. See and purchase art work from some of AFL's patients! Also The Hop will be donating 50% of proceeds from the event back to Arts For Life!

Hope you have a great month!
Much Love
